Social Change

I strive to increase the use of the arts as a method of liberating the voices of people in the community in order to effectively and inclusively contribute towards policy creation, community development and community cultural dialogue.

Part of social change is surfacing beliefs and changing them, you can’t change what you do not know.   Brazilian Theatre of the Oppressed Activist Artist Augusto Boal taught;

“All we do in Theatre is allow the good and bad to arise so we can get to know it, embody it and observe it.”

Theatre is the ancient language used  to express and see reality.  Using Theatre for social change seeks to find that which is hidden and encourages the body to speak.  Through movement, and sound we create images of our reality and analyse it to find the root cause of conflict.  We see ourselves in others and as social beings we learn through dialogue, reflection and participation.
